AI video and voice-over inside DaVinci Resolve Studio
The eroq script for DaVinci Resolve Studio renders AI clips, stills and voice-over into an « eroq » bin — the current frame can start the clip. Install, versions, costs.
DaVinci Resolve is where a lot of short films, ads and YouTube videos are finished. The eroq script puts generation next to the timeline: write the shot, render it, and the file lands in an « eroq » bin of the current project — or straight at the end of your timeline. The frame under the playhead can be the first frame of the new clip, which is the fastest way to extend a shot or bridge two.
Which Resolve
This matters, because Blackmagic changed the rules:
- DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 and later — works, nothing else to install: Python is built in.
- Studio 18.5 to 21.0 — works once Python 3 (64-bit) from python.org is installed.
- Free edition 18.5 to 19.0.x — works with Python 3 installed.
- Free edition 19.1 and later — no. Blackmagic made script windows a Studio feature in 19.1, and since 21.1 the free edition ignores Python scripts altogether. On 19.1–21.0 the script explains this and stops.
Install
Download the zip from eroq for DaVinci Resolve, unzip it and run the installer:
- macOS and Linux:
install.command(on macOS, if the system refuses to open a downloaded script, right-click it and choose Open). - Windows:
install.bat.
Both copy one file, eroq.py, into Resolve's Scripts/Utility folder. Then open Workspace → Scripts → Utility → eroq; restart Resolve if it is not listed yet.
Connect
Click Connect eroq. Your browser opens eroq.ai: sign in, click Allow, and the tab says eroq is connected — back in Resolve, your credits appear in the header. The script's key is listed under Developers → API keys as « DaVinci Resolve on your computer (connected) » and can be revoked there. A pasted API key works too (the ⚙ button).
Generate a clip
Pick the Video tab, write the shot, pick the engine, the length and the aspect — it defaults to the one closest to your timeline — and press Generate.
- The status line follows the job: queued (a cold start), rendering, downloading, then where the file went.
- The length is snapped to what the engine renders (Veo, for example, renders 4, 6 or 8 seconds), and the price hint shows the length you will actually get.
- Several renders can run at once, and Resolve stays fully usable while they do.
When it lands, the clip is saved under Movies/eroq/<project> (Videos/eroq on Windows and Linux) and imported into the project's eroq bin. Tick Append to timeline to add it at the end of the current timeline — or to an eroq timeline if none is open.
For scale: a five-second clip is 45 credits on Seedance 2.0 Mini and 60 on Motion One, eroq's own engine.
Start from the current frame
Tick Use current frame and the frame under the playhead goes with the prompt:
- For video, it becomes the clip's first frame on engines with image-to-video — the way to continue a shot past its last frame, or to animate a still you graded. The video API takes picture links, so the frame is first uploaded to your eroq Storage (folder « DaVinci Resolve »); it costs no credits and counts toward your storage.
- For images, it is sent as a reference and stored nowhere — useful for a matching insert or a poster frame in the same look.
Park the playhead on a clip in the Edit or Color page before you generate.
Voice-over and stills
The Speech tab reads a line with a roster voice or one of your clones and imports the audio next to your footage — temp VO in seconds, at 3 credits per 100 characters on Voice One. The Image tab renders stills in five formats for title backgrounds, inserts and thumbnails; a picture is 10 credits on Krea 2.
A few things to know
- Waiting. Images give up after 10 minutes, video after 45 — some engines really take that long. Closing the window stops the waiting, not the render: finished renders are in your eroq library.
- Switching projects mid-render saves the file but does not import it into the other project; use Import again when you are back.
- Errors are eroq's own words — not enough credits, a plan required, a refused prompt — shown as they come. Failed renders refund themselves.
- Something silent? Workspace → Console shows the script's messages, prefixed
[eroq].
FAQ
Why does the free version not work anymore?
Blackmagic restricted script windows to DaVinci Resolve Studio in version 19.1, and the free 21.1 stopped running Python scripts. The script needs a window, so it needs Studio on current versions.
Is it a Workflow Integration plugin?
No — a script launched from Workspace → Scripts, which keeps the install to one file and needs no external scripting.
Where do the files go?
Movies/eroq/<project> on macOS, Videos/eroq/<project> elsewhere — Resolve keeps projects in its database and does not expose a project folder to scripts.
