Extend and Lead into
Carry a clip on: Extend opens a new shot on its last frame, Lead into ends a new shot on its first frame, and the shots play as one sequence.
- 1
Under a finished clip in Video, click Extend for a shot that opens on its last frame, or Lead into for a shot that ends on its first frame. With several takes, pick which one.
- 2
The frame lands in the composer as the new shot's first (or last) frame, with a chip saying which shot it continues. Describe what happens next and Generate as usual.
- 3
The shots line up in the Sequence strip: play it from any shot, or click Edit the sequence to open them in Cinema as a film, in order, on its Edit tab.
Each new shot is an ordinary render, priced on its engine like any clip.
An engine that cannot start from a frame (or end on one) says so on the chip before you render.
Linking a shot in the middle of a sequence can drop the shots after (or before) it; the chip says so first.
Private mode keeps a shot out of the sequence: a private take has no Library copy to chain from.
