Which AI video engine should I use — a decision guide for eroq

eroq runs seven video engines, and the question we get most isn't "which is best" but "which one for this". The right answer is a short sequence of eliminations. Work through them in order — content, sound, length, resolution, motion, budget — and usually one engine is left standing before you reach the end. Every number here is from the engine roster.

Six eliminations, in order

1. Start with the content

This one is binary. If the clip is mature — adult, fictional characters, uncensored within the acceptable-use policy — the engine is Motion One, full stop. It is the only video engine on eroq that isn't moderated upstream, and it is on every account, free included.

Everything else — Seedance 2.5, Seedance 1.0 Pro and Lite, Kling 2.5 Turbo, Hailuo 02, Veo 3 Fast — is SFW only, because those providers moderate before eroq sees the output. A mature prompt there fails upstream; the credits come back, but the clip doesn't.

If the clip is SFW, keep going.

2. Then sound

Also binary. If the clip needs its own soundtrack — ambience, effects, a spoken line — it is Veo 3 Fast, the only engine on the roster that renders audio with the picture. That decision also fixes the length at exactly 8 seconds and the price at 256 credits a clip, on Creator and up.

If sound is coming from an edit afterward, or the clip is silent by design, keep going.

3. Then length

Now it is a range question.

• More than 12 seconds in one take: Seedance 2.5, which renders 4 to 30 seconds. Nothing else on the roster goes past 12.
• 3 to 12 seconds, any value: Seedance 1.0 Pro or Lite.
• Exactly 5 or 10: Kling 2.5 Turbo, Motion One.
• Exactly 6 or 10: Hailuo 02.
• Exactly 8: Veo 3 Fast.

Your plan caps the ceiling regardless of engine: 10 seconds on free, 15 on Hobby, 20 on Creator, 30 on Studio, Team and Agency. A 30-second Seedance 2.5 clip is a Studio-and-up render; on Creator the same engine tops out at 20.

4. Then resolution

• 1080p: Seedance 2.5, Seedance 1.0 Pro, Kling 2.5 Turbo, Veo 3 Fast (720p or 1080p).
• 720p at most: Hailuo 02 (720p), Seedance 1.0 Lite (480p or 720p), Motion One (480p or 720p).

A 9:16 clip watched on a phone rarely needs 1080p. A 16:9 hero on a website or a TV usually does. Decide by the screen, not by pride.

5. Then motion style

If two or three engines are still standing, this is where reputations decide it.

• People — fluid motion and faces: Kling 2.5 Turbo. Give it a Character's reference photo and it animates the same face across clips. Side-by-side with Seedance on /compare/seedance-vs-kling.
• Physics and dramatic light — things that fall, splash, hit, lit hard: Hailuo 02. Side-by-side with Kling on /compare/kling-vs-hailuo.
• Control — a reproducibility seed, a fixed end frame: the Seedance family honors a seed, and Seedance 2.5 adds first/last-frame interpolation. When you need to land on a known final image, that is the only option.
• Drafting: Seedance 1.0 Lite, which shares the register of Pro at less than half the credits.

6. Then budget

Credits at the 5-second anchor, cheapest first: Seedance 1.0 Lite 60, Motion One 100, Hailuo 02 100, Kling 2.5 Turbo 120, Seedance 1.0 Pro 140, Seedance 2.5 180. Veo 3 Fast is 256 for its fixed 8 seconds. At the entry pack a credit is roughly a cent, so that list runs from about $0.60 to $2.56 a clip.

The plan decides what is on the menu before price does: free accounts have Motion One; Hobby ($15, 1,800 credits) adds Seedance 1.0 Lite and Hailuo 02; Creator ($49, 6,000 credits) adds every engine and a priority video queue; Studio ($149, 20,000 credits) raises the clip cap to 30 seconds. Four jobs, four answers

A vertical short on a free account. Motion One, 9:16, 720p, 5 seconds, 100 credits. The 50 starting credits cover images and voice; the first clip needs a pack, and the Starter pack ($10, 1,000 credits) is ten of them.

A 20-second establishing shot for a short film. Seedance 2.5 on Creator, 16:9, 1080p, seed pinned after the first take. Build the rest of the film around it in Film mode, scene by scene.

The register is the same everywhere — one flowing paragraph, subject, motion, camera, light, mood, 30 to 80 words — which means you can write once and route by the decision above:

A skateboarder drops into an empty concrete pool at golden hour, wheels rattling over the coping as she carves one long arc up the far wall and kicks out at the lip, dust and light behind her. Tracking shot from the deck, FPV drone feel, contre-jour sun, warm film palette, dynamic and loose.

On Veo 3 Fast, "wheels rattling" becomes a sound. On every other engine it is a visual cue for how the wheels move. On Hailuo the dust gets the attention; on Kling, her body does; on Seedance 2.5 you could give the arc 15 seconds.
