# Film mode — the AI film maker

> Film mode is eroq's AI film maker: a progressive storyboard where each scene renders as you add it, with takes, edits, re-renders, one shared look and an assembled player. Publish the film with a cover.

A film is not one prompt. Film mode is a progressive storyboard: you write one scene, it renders immediately, the timeline grows. Each scene gets its own camera move, length, takes and cast; the whole film shares one look — film type, era, tempo, gear. Reorder, duplicate, re-render, keep the best take, save the draft, publish it with a generated cover.

## How a film is built

- Compose scene one in the hero composer and press Add scene — it renders while you write scene two.
- Each card on the timeline is a scene: edit it back into the composer, re-render, render 1–4 takes and keep one, move it up or down, duplicate it. Up to 12 scenes.
- The look — film type, era, tempo, camera gear, lens, aperture, palette, lighting — is set once and folded into every scene's prompt server-side.
- The assembled player plays the scenes back to back. Save draft keeps the recipe; My films reopens it.

## Casting across scenes

Each scene carries its own cast: pick Characters in the composer and their reference photos drive image-to-video for that shot. The same face and the same voice, scene after scene — the thing single-prompt tools cannot do.

## Publishing

A finished film publishes to the community as one entry: a generated cover (palette, title, clapper — or a frame, or your own image), a title, likes, comments and views. Your prompts and settings stay private. The API does the same through POST /v1/films/{id}/render and /publish.

## FAQ

### How many scenes can a film have?

Up to 12 scenes per film, each 3–30 seconds depending on the engine and your plan, each with up to 4 takes.

### Can I re-render one scene without redoing the film?

Yes — every scene card has Re-render and Retry, and edits load the scene back into the composer while the rest of the timeline stays put.

### Is the film exported as one file?

The studio plays the scenes as one cut and each scene downloads as its own clip; the community player walks the segments in order. Assemble in Premiere or After Effects with the eroq panel for a single file.

### Can I automate storyboards?

Yes: POST /v1/films with a recipe of scenes, then POST /v1/films/{id}/render queues every scene as a video job.
