# The Editor

> Cut your own clips on a timeline: trims, music and sounds, titles, looks, keyframes, overlays and cuts on the beat, exported in your browser at no credit cost.

_Help center › Video_

Video → Editor (its own row under Video in the rail) edits clips you already have, renders or uploads, on a timeline. Nothing in it runs on an engine: cuts, previews and exports happen in your browser and cost no credits. Cinema cuts its films on this same Editor, in a film's Edit tab.

## Two ways in

- New edit, on the Editor's home: an empty edit opens on the timeline. Bring clips in from the media bin on the left (Media, Audio, Titles), from your Creations or Uploads, or Import files from your computer.
- Cut on the beat: pick clips, one of the trending edits (aura farming, phonk, villain arc, velocity) and a song, and the clips are re-cut on the music's beats, with looks and hits on the beat. A reference edit can set the pace instead. The result plays on your own clips before anything changes, and applying it is one step you can undo.
- Edit on any video in the studio (a take in Video, a Library card, a Replace result) opens it straight on the timeline; a Replace result comes with your source clip's original sound under it.

## On the timeline

- A main video track with trims, transitions and speed, and a look and a camera move per clip.
- Up to 6 video lanes over it for B-roll, picture-in-picture and logos, 4 title lanes, and 8 sound lanes for music, voice lines and your own sounds.
- Keyframes on position, scale, rotation, opacity and volume, and a finish for the whole cut: grade, grain, vignette, letterbox.
- A song's beats are read in the browser, and cuts and hits snap to them. In a film, the dialogue becomes subtitles in one click.
- A clip's own sound sits on a linked track under it and moves with it; right-click and "Unlink the sound" to move it apart. Right-click any clip for its actions, select several (drag a box, shift or ⌘-click, ⌘A), and press F for full screen. The right panel holds the Inspector and Ask; Export sits in the header.

## Export

Export renders the cut to one file in your browser: MP4 or WebM, in the edit's own frame or reframed to 9:16, 16:9, 1:1 or 4:5, with a choice of resolution, frame rate and quality. An MP4 can be saved to your Library (it counts against Storage); a WebM is a download. The frame under the playhead (PNG), the soundtrack alone (WAV) and the subtitles (.srt) export too.
