# My render failed — was I charged?

> No. Failures refund themselves, take by take, and show as negative rows in the ledger. What to check before writing in.

_Help center › Troubleshooting_

- A failed generation refunds itself automatically; the refund is a negative row in Developers → Requests. A batch refunds each failed take on its own.
- A video job still "processing" past its engine's deadline is failed and refunded for you — you never have to ask.
- Retry on the card re-runs the same recipe. If an engine keeps failing, its provider is probably out of capacity: try another engine or come back later.

If you see a charge without an output in the ledger, write to us with the account id (it is attached automatically from the support form) and the time of the render.
