# Remove a background

> The Remove background tab cuts a subject out of any picture; it is priced like an image and greyed out when the tool is unavailable.

Image → Remove background takes one picture — an upload, a render, a character photo — and returns it with a transparent background, saved to your Library like any render. The price is on the button.

If the tab is greyed out with "soon", the cut-out engine is not available on this deployment right now; nothing is charged and the tab comes back on its own.
