# @mentions and cast

> Type @ in any prompt to bring in a character, an element, an upload or a recent render; the Cast and Elements pickers do the same from Settings.

_Help center › Characters & elements_

Type @ in a composer and a panel lists what you can mention: characters, elements, your Storage uploads and your last thirty image renders. Pick one and it becomes a blue token in the prompt; its sheet or picture is sent as a reference and its description joins the text. The Cast picker (up to four characters) and the Elements picker (up to eight) in Settings do the same thing with checkboxes.

## Picture slots

Every image model reads a set number of pictures; the pickers show "N / max" and refuse beyond it rather than quietly dropping one. A character mentioned and also cast takes one slot, not two. Switching to a model with fewer slots trims the stack; switching back restores it.

## In video and Cinema

On the Video page the cast lives in the composer (not in Settings). In Cinema every scene carries its own cast, with no inheritance between scenes; speakers in the dialogue join it automatically. On engines that read no reference pictures, the page says so: the cast is redrawn from the words alone.
