# Look sheets

> One generated sheet per character or element is the identity every render reads — and a character without one cannot be cast.

_Help center › Characters & elements_

A look sheet is one image — a turnaround of heads and full-body views for a character, a hero sheet for an object, a scene sheet for a place — generated from the reference photos and used as the reference in every render afterwards. It is what keeps a face, an outfit or a product the same across images and clips.

## Generating one

- Identity tab → Generate. The gauge shows how many references you have: one is not enough, three is enough, four is recommended. With no photo at all, write a description instead.
- Review the sheet. Regenerate takes an optional direction ("keep her hair short", "the red version of the jacket") on top of the references.
- Accept to make it the identity. The sheet is priced like one image on its engine, shown on the button; the accepted sheet stays in your Library.

## The gate

A character or an element (place or object) without an accepted sheet cannot be cast in an image or a clip: the picker says "Create sheet" and the render refuses before charging. The Text tool never needs one. When you add photos newer than the sheet, a Stale badge suggests regenerating.
