# My account is suspended

> Why an account gets suspended — a policy violation or a third account — and what to do.

A suspended account cannot sign in or call the API, and its public creations are taken down. It happens for a violation of the acceptable-use policy, or for opening a third account from the same connection or mailbox after a warning. Credits on an account suspended for a violation are not refunded.

If you believe it is a mistake, write to us from the account's email with what you were doing. We read every appeal; multi-account suspensions are lifted when the extra accounts are closed.
