# AI video resolution guide — when 480p, 720p and 1080p matter

Resolution is the setting people max out by reflex and then never think about again. It deserves about thirty seconds of thought, because on eroq it is not a slider you can push everywhere — it is a property of the engine you picked, and once a clip is rendered, the number is final. There is no upscaler. Here is what each engine outputs, and how to decide by where the clip is going to be watched.

## What each engine can actually output

Resolution is decided before the prompt is, because it is part of the engine roster. The full grid is on [/models](/models); here it is sorted by ceiling.

**Up to 1080p**

Two things fall out of that list immediately. First, if a job genuinely requires 1080p, you have already narrowed the roster to four engines, all of them Creator plan and up. Second, if your clip is mature content, the engine is Motion One — the only uncensored video engine on eroq — and 720p is therefore your ceiling. That is not a compromise you negotiate; it is the shape of the roster.

Note also what resolution does **not** change: the credit grid on eroq is written per duration, not per resolution. A 5-second Motion One clip is 100 credits whether you render it at 480p or 720p. ## Resolution is a delivery decision

The right question is never "what is the highest number available". It is "where will this be watched, and what happens to it between here and there".

**A 9:16 clip on a phone.** This is the most common delivery target and the one that needs 1080p least. A vertical clip on a handset is a small, dense screen held at arm's length, usually watched once, usually while moving. 720p holds up. The things that make a phone clip look cheap are compression artifacts, shaky framing and a subject too small in frame — not the difference between 720 and 1080 lines.

**A 16:9 hero on a website.** Here the clip is often wider than the viewer's face is from the screen, and it may loop, which means the viewer looks at it more than once. 1080p is the sane default.

**A TV, a projector, a trade-show wall.** 1080p, without discussion. Anything below it is visible from across the room, and a soft image reads as "AI" faster than almost any other tell.

**A clip that will be cropped or reframed in an edit.** This is the case people forget. If you are going to punch in, stabilize, or crop a 16:9 render into a 9:16 cutdown, every pixel you did not render is a pixel you cannot crop into. Shoot high, cut down.

**A draft, a test, a storyboard beat.** The lowest setting the engine offers. You are checking motion and composition, not finish.

## There is no upscaler — decide before you render

This is the part worth stating flatly, because it determines the workflow. eroq does not upscale. There is no "enhance" pass, no second render that adds resolution to a finished clip, and no editing surface inside eroq at all — no trimming, no transitions, no grade. You export and finish in Premiere or After Effects.

So a 480p clip is a 480p clip forever. If you rendered a keeper at the draft setting, the fix is to render it again at the right one, which costs the full credits again. Two habits follow:

1. **Draft cheap, but pin what you liked.** The Seedance engines honor a reproducibility seed — note it, and your final render at a higher resolution starts from the same place rather than from a new roll of the dice.
2. **Decide the delivery target before the first render, not after the good one.** The thirty seconds you spend on that is the cheapest thirty seconds in the whole pipeline.

## A worked example

**For a vertical short.** Hailuo 02, 9:16, 720p, 6 seconds. Hailuo is the engine with a reputation for cinematic physics and dramatic light, which is exactly what "steam lifting through a hard lamp" is asking for, and 720p is its ceiling anyway — a ceiling that costs you nothing on a phone. ### Which eroq video engines render 1080p?

### Can I upscale an AI video after rendering it?

No. eroq has no upscaler, and there is no editing surface inside the studio. If a clip needs more resolution, it has to be rendered again at the higher setting — which is why the delivery target should be decided before the first render.

### Is 720p enough for TikTok and Reels?

For most vertical, phone-first clips, yes. Resolution is rarely what makes a short look cheap — framing, motion and compression matter more. Reach for 1080p when the clip will be cropped, reframed or shown on a large screen.
