# AI prompts for fashion and beauty — fabric, skin, jewelry, motion

> Editorial prompts for fashion and beauty work, covering fabric behavior, skin under light, jewelry and moving cloth, with 16 examples and the engine for each.

Fashion prompts fail in a specific way. They describe the garment — "a red silk dress, elegant, high fashion" — and the result looks like a catalog thumbnail of a red dress. Editorial images are not about the garment; they are about what the material is doing under a particular light. Silk falling is a different picture from silk hanging.

So write the behavior, not the label. Three habits do most of the work: **name the weave or finish** ("heavy raw silk", "brushed mohair", "crushed velvet"), **say what the light does to it** — velvet goes black in the folds, satin throws a hard specular line, wool softens into midtones — and **give cloth a reason to move**, since a garment at rest is a still frame. Each prompt carries its rack in one order, **Film type · Lighting · Palette · Move**, and works in [the Image studio](/studio/image) or [the Video studio](/studio/video).

## Fabric in motion

All four are one movement caught cleanly. Keep the background empty enough that the cloth is the only complicated thing in the frame.

**Music video · Contre-jour · Twilight · Orbit**

> A model in a floor-length organza gown turns once on a bare concrete rooftop as the sun drops behind her, the sheer skirt lifting and glowing where light passes through, slow orbit at chest height, orange fading to blue, weightless and calm.

**Commercial · Window light · Pastel dawn · Slow pan**

> A heavy raw silk shirt hangs on a wire in a bare white room and shifts in a draft, the weave catching one soft highlight along the sleeve, slow pan from the empty wall to the shirt, low-contrast morning light, patient and quiet.

**Arthouse · Silhouette · Monochrome · Tracking**

> A woman in a long wool coat walks a windy seafront promenade, the hem and back vent snapping behind her, tracking alongside at walking pace against a bright overcast sky, her figure reading as a dark shape, stubborn and cold.

**Commercial · Soft cross · Blood & gold · Push-in**

> A crushed velvet jacket rotates slowly on a mannequin in a dark studio, the pile shifting from black to deep crimson as it turns, slow anamorphic push-in from waist height to the collar, brass hardware catching one highlight, rich and deliberate.

## Skin and beauty close-ups

Beauty work lives or dies on how skin is lit and how honestly it is rendered. Ask for texture explicitly — pores, freckles, fine hair — because the default is to smooth all of it away.

**Commercial · Soft cross · Pastel dawn · Close-up**

> Macro close-up of a woman's cheekbone and eye, freckles and fine facial hair fully visible, two large soft sources leaving no hard shadow, one catchlight in the iris, a faint sheen along the brow bone, serene and unhurried.

**Documentary · Window light · Industrial fog · Close-up**

> Close-up of a man's face in three-quarter turn beside a rain-streaked window, pores and a day of stubble rendered honestly, soft gray daylight from the side, a wet highlight along the lower lip, background dissolved into cool blur, frank and tired.

**Romance · Contre-jour · Warm film · Static**

> Close-up of a woman with her eyes closed and her chin lifted into low sun, the light rimming loose hairs into a bright halo and glowing through the edge of her ear, shallow 85mm rendering, skin left with its own texture, warm and still.

**Commercial · Practicals · Blood & gold · Close-up**

> Macro close-up of lips and chin under a ring of small bulbs, a glossy finish catching them as a row of tiny highlights, skin texture visible at the corners of the mouth, everything beyond the jaw falling to black, glossy and exact.

## Jewelry and hard surfaces

Metal and stone are reflection problems. Do not ask for sparkle; ask for a specific reflected environment, because that is what a highlight is. Small pieces want a stated scale reference or they render like sculpture.

**Commercial · Soft cross · Monochrome · Static**

> A thin gold chain lies coiled on brushed steel with one clasp open, two soft sources reflecting as long clean bands down the links, locked static macro with the coil off center, no hand in frame, cold and expensive.

**Commercial · Practicals · Blood & gold · Close-up**

> A signet ring sits on a dark leather tray beside a burning candle, the flame reflected as a single moving point on the polished face, close-up at tray level at f/1.4, warm unsteady light with deep shadows behind, intimate and old.

**Commercial · Overhead fall · Industrial fog · Static**

> A steel cuff bracelet rests on wet slate under a hard lamp directly above, water beading on the metal and the stone, locked static shot from just off vertical, one narrow reflection running the length of the cuff, severe and clean.

**Commercial · Neon glow · Neon noir · Orbit**

> A pair of drop earrings hangs from a clear acrylic stand and turns slowly, faceted stones throwing pink and cyan across the surface below, slow macro orbit at earring height, colored tubes as the only light, deep black background, restless and bright.

## Editorial stills across the three models

The same brief renders three ways — photoreal on [Image One](/models/eroq-image-one), illustrated on Image Anime, painted on [Image Art](/models/eroq-image-art), which is the one to write long for since it follows descriptive prose rather than tag lists.

**Image One · overcast daylight · 35mm · remote**

> Full length editorial shot of a model in an oversized coated cotton trench on an empty coastal road under flat overcast light, wind pushing the hem sideways, wide 35mm framing with the horizon low, remote and composed.

**Image One · practicals · 85mm · bored**

> Medium editorial portrait of a model in a sequined slip dress at a hotel bar after closing, lit only by the lamps behind the bottles, sequins picking up the bulbs as scattered warm points, shallow 85mm rendering, elegant and a little bored.

**Image Anime · rim light · flat color · confident**

> Waist-up illustration of a model in a structured asymmetric jacket against a flat cobalt background, strong rim light along one shoulder and the jaw, bold flat color with clean line weight and minimal shading, a single chrome earring, graphic and confident.

**Image Art · north light · oil on board · tender**

> A three-quarter editorial figure in a heavy mohair sweater painted in oils on board, north light from a high window scattering softly through the halo of loose fibers at the shoulder, thick paint in the highlights and thin washes in the shadow, tender and melancholy.

## Which engine suits which shot

For stills the choice is the look you want, and every image costs 10 credits with negative prompts, [CFG scale](/glossary/cfg-scale) and references on all three models. Spend the negative prompt on what ruins fashion renders specifically — watermarks, text on garments, plastic skin.

For motion, the roster splits by what the shot demands. Moving fabric and a turning model are motion and face problems, which is [Kling 2.5 Turbo](/models/kling-2-5-turbo) territory; dramatic single-source light on skin plays to Hailuo 02's strengths; runway-length takes up to 30 seconds at 1080p need [Seedance 2.5](/models/seedance-2-5), which honors a seed so you can re-shoot the same walk in another garment. Motion One runs 5 or 10 seconds on any account.

## FAQ

### How do I keep one model's face across a whole lookbook?

Save her as a Character with reference photos and @mention her in every prompt. Then stop describing the face and spend those words on the garment, the light and the pose — a competing description only muddies the reference.

### Why does my fabric look like plastic?

Because the prompt named a color and a garment but no material behavior. Add the weave and what the light does to it — "brushed mohair scattering light into a halo", "satin throwing one hard specular line" — and the surface resolves.

### Can I animate a still I already rendered?

Yes. Any saved image can become an image-to-video source, the cleanest way to get motion out of a frame you already approved. Write the new prompt as motion only — the turn, the gust, the step.

Try the organza turn first: open [the Video studio](/studio/video), set Contre-jour, Twilight and Orbit, and render it twice before changing a word.
