# Ad multiplier: turn one winning video ad into 12 variants

> How eroq's ad multiplier turns one winning video ad into up to 12 ad variations with new faces, outfits, places or products, and what each variant costs.

A video ad that works is the one you want more of. The message can stay right long after viewers have seen the same face in the same kitchen too many times; that wear is [creative fatigue](/glossary/creative-fatigue). Re-shooting is the slow fix. The Multiplier in the eroq [Ads Studio](/studio/ads) is the fast one: one ad becomes ×3, ×6, ×9 or ×12 independent [ad variations](/glossary/ad-variations), each with a new presenter, outfit, place or product, while the motion, the cut and the timing of the original stay.

This guide covers what it changes, which ad to feed it, notes that steer it, what it costs, and how to test the variants once they are out. If you do not have a video ad yet, start with [from your website to a first set of ads](/blog/ai-ad-generator-website-to-ads).

## What changes, and what stays

Inside a brand, open the **Multiplier** tab. Four switches decide what each variant changes:

- **Character:** a new presenter (look, age, style).
- **Outfit:** new clothes.
- **Location:** a new place and setting.
- **Product:** another of the brand's products in place of the one shown. The switch appears once the brand has products.

The first three are on by default. Under them, **Anything else** takes a free note of up to 300 characters, applied to every variant. A note alone works too, with no switch on. **Remove burned-in captions** is on by default, so each edit is asked to clear captions and subtitles and the variants ship clean.

What stays: the motion, the performance, the cut, the timing, the framing and the original sound. A variant runs the same length as the source, at up to 720p. A new face or a new place rebuilds the subjects around the original movement; an outfit or a product swap changes them in place. The studio picks the right edit from your switches.

What the Multiplier never touches: the script, the hook and the voice. The clip's own sound goes back under every variant, cut at its length, on either engine, so each file leaves eroq ready to upload.

## How a run works

1. **The ad.** The brand's latest video ad is selected for you. Pick another of its video ads, or **Choose a video** for any clip in your Library or Storage, or a file from your computer.
2. **The count.** ×3, ×6 (the default), ×9 or ×12.
3. **The changes.** Switches, plus the note.
4. **Multiply.** Clap, eroq's agent, grabs a frame from about one second into the ad and describes what is on screen: the people, their outfits, what they hold, the setting, the light. Then it writes one edit per variant with a short label such as "Lisbon café, 30s man", and makes the variants differ from each other in age, look, place, light or market. The writing is free.
5. **One upload.** The clip is prepared once for all the variants, trimmed and converted in your browser when it needs to be.
6. **The edits.** Each variant starts as its own Replace edit with its own progress bar, billed as it starts. A failed edit refunds itself.

The variants land in the brand's Library folder and in the History panel, each under its label. The people Clap writes are invented, never a celebrity or a real, named person. The [Multiplier help page](/help/ads/ad-multiplier) lists every control.

## Pick the right ad to multiply

Multiplying copies an ad's structure, so feed it one that has already earned it.

- **A proven ad.** Choose from what your ads manager says, not from taste. eroq does not read results, so that call is yours.
- **An ad whose words already work.** The script and the audio do not change, so the variants test faces, places and looks. A new hook means a new video ad with a new spoken line.
- **A clear first second.** Clap judges the ad from a frame about a second in. If the presenter and the product are visible there, its edits name the right things.
- **The right length.** Replace reads clips of 1 to 15 seconds and Replace Pro 2 to 10. A longer clip is not refused: the first 15 seconds (10 on Replace Pro) are used and billed, and the studio says so under the clip. Your hook sits at the start anyway; if the end card matters, cut a short version first.
- **Captions on purpose.** If the burned-in text is the concept (a list, a question on screen), turn caption removal off.

## Notes that steer the batch

The note is where the batch gets a direction. Clap applies it to every variant and still keeps them different. Notes that work:

- "for the Japanese market: Tokyo streets and apartments" (more in [localizing ads for new markets](/blog/localize-ads-for-new-markets))
- "autumn: knitwear, warm interiors, golden light"
- "presenters from 40 to 60"
- "gyms and running tracks only"
- "night scenes, city lights"
- With only Character on: "same kitchen, only the presenter changes"

For a product swap, turn on Product and Clap casts one of the brand's products in each variant, held and used the same way. Replace reads words only, so the swapped product is drawn from its description rather than its photo: check the label on every product variant. When the packaging has to be exact, make a new video ad with the product's photo instead.

## What it costs

The price is the engine's rate per second × the clip's length (rounded up to the whole second) × the number of variants. Clap's writing costs nothing. The panel shows the price per variant, the button shows the total, and your balance has to cover the whole run before it starts.

| Clip | Variants | Replace | Replace Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 s | ×6 | 240 | 1,770 |
| 8 s | ×6 | 384 | 2,832 |
| 10 s | ×12 | 960 | 7,080 |
| 15 s | ×12 | 1,440 | first 10 s: 7,080 |

Six variants of a 10-second ad on Replace come to 480 credits, about $4.80 at the Starter pack's rate. Plans and packs are on the [pricing page](/pricing).

## Replace or Replace Pro

The engine sits in the Settings panel, the same setting as the Replace tool. Both put the original sound back under every variant.

- **Replace**, any plan, 8 credits / second of clip. Clips of 1 to 15 seconds, returned at up to 720p with the same length and framing. Reads words only; its provider moderates the edits, and a declined edit is refunded.
- **Replace Pro**, Creator plan and up, 59 credits / second of clip. Clips of 2 to 10 seconds, up to 720p. Renders take longer.

In the Multiplier, neither engine takes photos of your own characters: a Character change is a presenter Clap invents in words. To put one of your [characters](/studio/characters/new) in a clip, edit it with Replace Pro in the Replace tool and @mention them (they need a look sheet), or make a new video ad with them as the presenter.

A fair rule: Replace for volume and for clips up to 15 seconds, Replace Pro when Replace declines or misses an edit. Coming from Higgsfield's Ad Multiplier? The [side-by-side](/blog/higgsfield-ads-studio-alternative) lists what differs.

## Test the variants where the results are

Download the variants from the brand's folder or from History. Downloads carry a generic file name, so rename each file with its History label as you go; that is how a result in your ads manager maps back to a variant.

Then upload them to Meta Ads Manager or TikTok Ads Manager. Keep everything but the creative equal: same campaign, same copy, same audience, same budget. The variants share one script and one soundtrack, so what you measure is the face, the outfit and the place. Give each variant enough delivery before you judge it, and read spend, click-through and ROAS there; eroq does not import them. The [creative testing framework](/blog/creative-testing-framework-small-brands) covers the set-up, and [how many ad variations you need](/blog/creative-fatigue-how-many-ad-variations) covers the volume.

When a variant wins, it is already a clip in the brand's folder, so it can be the next ad you multiply. For a one-page summary, see the [ad multiplier tool page](/tools/ad-multiplier).

## FAQ

### How many variants can the ad multiplier make from one ad?

×3, ×6, ×9 or ×12 per run, all edits of the same clip. For more, run it again (Clap writes new variants each time) or multiply one of the variants.

### Does the Multiplier keep the original voice-over?

Yes. It never writes a new script or voice: the clip's original sound, voice-over included, goes back under every variant, on Replace and on Replace Pro.

### How long can the source clip be?

Replace reads clips of 1 to 15 seconds and Replace Pro clips of 2 to 10. A longer clip still works: the first 15 seconds (10 on Replace Pro) are used and billed.

### Can the variants star my own characters?

Not from the Multiplier: its new presenters are invented by Clap and described in words. To cast one of your characters, make a video ad with them as the presenter, or edit the clip with Replace Pro in the Replace tool and @mention them.

### Does eroq tell me which variant wins?

No. eroq makes the files; spend, click-through and ROAS live in your ads manager. Test the variants there with everything else equal, then bring the winner back and multiply it.
